About “Personal Accounts”

Over the years I have had the pleasure of interviewing many citizens of Manteno, Illinois and former employees (or friends and family therof) of Manteno State Hospital. Interviews were either conducted in person or via email. Some even chose to simply write their own personal accounts and send them to me. I have posted some of these “personal accounts” here.

WARNING: The content of these posts, may warrant an “NC-17” rating, for content involving, “violence, sex, aberrational behavior, drug abuse or any other element that most parents would consider too strong and therefore off-limits for viewing by their children” (as described by the Motion Picture Association of America).  Some of the stories you are about to read may contain graphic and gruesome details that you might find repulsive or disturbing.  Proceed with caution.

NOTE: I have changed names, identifying and defining information to protect the identities of those who provided their stories and information.  In most cases, I can neither confirm or deny the accuracy of any account posted here.

“The stories you are about to read are true; the names have been changed to protect the innocent…”
(a variation on the “Dragnet” intro)
